Herencia Cafe at Paoay, Ilocos Norte
Herencia Cafe is located right across the famous Paoay Church and is known for its Pinakbet Pizza.
After marveling at the grand site of Paoay Church, Hubby and I went to Herencia Cafe to eat lunch. We were seated near a window where we could see Paoay Church which I think was a romantic spot for those on dinner dates.
The waitress was quick to escort us to a table. She gave us the menu and explained to us the dishes which we weren't familiar with (ex. Poqui-poqui).
We ordered: Inabraw, Bagnet and rice.
Inabraw is a dish made of boiled vegetables simmered in fermented fish. It was served steaming hot in a small clay pot. We could already tell it was a delicious dish.
The Bagnet has a crunchy skin (YUM!) but the meat itself was kinda tough. It was partnered with KBL (kamatis, bagoong, lasona or sibuyas).
This was our first meal on our locos trip and we enjoyed it. Inabraw was the star of this meal. The veggies were cooked just right you could see it in their bright colors. It was freshly cooked which we love whenever we eat out.
When dining outside, I'm particular with the restaurant's restroom. If their restroom is clean, I assume that their kitchen is clean also.
At Herencia Cafe, they have good restrooms. Liquid hand soap was available at the sink and toilet paper was available in each cubicle (they have 3). The floor was dry and spotless.
Overall, Herencia Cafe is a good restaurant to go to. It's near a tourist spot so why not enjoy your lunch or dinner here?
