Visiting Batac and Paoay

There are many tourist spots in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, but we narrowed down our tour to the cultural and historical sites in Batac and Paoay.

We arrived at 8 am in our hotel in Laoag. Since it's too early to check-in, Hubby and I decided to eat breakfast and go to Batac first.

The jeepney terminal is located beside the city's capitol. The hotel staff advised us to take a jeep instead of a bus when going to Batac. The fare from Laoag City to Batac is P25. Travel time is about 30 minutes.

BATAC
Batac Church in San Marcelino Street

We said our prayers and lighted candles in Batac Church.

Batac Riverside Empanadahan
When in Ilocos, it's a must to try their empanadas! Batac Riverside is a walking distance from Batac Church.

Marcos Presidential Center

After eating empanada, we walked towards the Marcos Museum. Here's the museum's schedule and rates:

The museum displays several memorabilia of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. It shows the life of Marcos when he was little and the highlights of his political career. There are directions on where to start and what room to see next.

PAOAY

After Batac, we rode a jeep going to Paoay. The fare is P10.

Paoay Church
When I was in college, our Humanities class went on an Ilocos tour and Paoay Church was one of the churches that we visited. It was an old but grand and beautiful church. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Paoay Church is a must-see when touring Ilocos Norte.
