Flower Showers from Trees

I have yet to find a reception venue. Having the reception at a garden seems nice. Lots of greenery and flowers. You have sculptured trees and maybe a pond. Cool and natural breeze.

If we have a garden reception, I would like to have flower garlands hanging on a tree.

Long tables. Family meals.

I like having long tables to be used at the reception. Instead of round tables for 10 (or any number), I would like to have our guests in long tables. It's like sharing a family meal. Guests passing food and condiments while having conversations, sharing jokes. Happy moments.

Love Garland

At a wedding reception, there is a wall, usually the wall behind the presidential table, where the names of the bride and groom are displayed. Maybe this was customary so the guests will know that they are at the right reception venue. :)

Usually, the names are in cut-outs of shiny paper. In Script font.

Here, I found instructions on doing a Love Garland in Style Me Pretty. I could do that for our name display at the reception. It's different and I could do it in advance.

Missing bouquet

As I was browsing wedsites and wedblogs, I saw these beautiful pictures of the bride Shelly at One Love Photo. As she was walking down the aisle, her family and friends gave her flowers that would form her bouquet. Awwww. The guests had an active participation to the ceremony and see their smiles? Smiles all over the place! Wonderful!

Book ring box

I found this DIY project. A book ring box. Instead of a ring pillow, wedding rings will be placed securely inside the book. You cut a small hole or “well” wherein you will place the rings. For instructions, you can check it out at Once Wed.

How can I cut a "well" in the book? Do we have a tool similar to that in the instruction that could create the well? (think, think, think)

Rings in Bulacan

We plan to search for a ring design that we love and go find a similar pair of rings in Bulacan. Bulacan is where affordable and quality jewelries are made. I have a friend who is from that province and she agreed to help us look for a jeweler. :)
If there are no rings the same as what design we had, we could just find something similar, or even pay for custom-made rings.

Hand-woven rings

I found this website that offers hand-woven rings. Hand. Woven. Rings. Looks like rings used in Medieval times.

Anyone here in the Philippines offering such rings?

If we do get rings that have spaces (holes) in them, such as rings with engravings and scroll-like design, my concern is that it is more prone to collecting dirt. I think that if I wash my hands with soap, bits of soap may gather in the spaces and make the rings look dirty and dull. =(

Eco-friendly rings

There are a lot of things I learn and continue to learn as I plan our wedding. I was only searching for wedding rings when I learned about eco-friendly rings and rings that use conflict-free diamonds.

I only learned now that people should think twice about buying jewelry with diamonds. We should be sure where the stones came from since the diamonds may be harvested using child labor, using violence and exploitation of communities and the environment.

In the US, there is a website that offers eco-friendly wedding rings. GreenKarat

uses recycled gold in creating wedding rings. The idea is you get old gold from your family and friends and the greenKarat will melt the collected gold and form it as your wedding rings. It's symbolic and at the same time, eco-friendly. I wonder if there's something like that here in the Philippines...

Ring-ring! Ring-ring!

I'm searching the Internet for ring designs. The Cook and I have window-shopped before for rings but nothing impressed us that much. All the rings looked the same to me. Same smooth wedding bands, some have diamonds, small ones, big ones. Nothing that captured my interest for me to say that “Hey, that's our ring!”

Months after that window shopping, the rings that somewhat engraved itself in my mind is the pair of gold rings with a strip of “rose gold” in the middle. The rose gold has a shade of pink (maybe that's why I remember it until now). Rose gold is still gold but with copper content in it that's why it has a pinkish shade. It's not the usual yellow or white gold, it's pink! :)

We're partial to having wedding bands instead of rings. What's the difference? Wedding bands do not have stones in it. I think that's the difference.

If we're having wedding bands, I want some engravings in it like vines, flowers, etc. I saw a design here at Brilliant Earth of a beautiful ring.

Photo Booth

It seems that photo booths are in a rage at weddings today. Instead of giving little trinkets as wedding favors, a couple could opt to have a photo booth. Guests would fall in line to have their pictures taken in succession and printed afterwards. Sounds fun, right?

I searched the Internet and the rate for renting a photo booth is around P12,000-15,000. You'll have a technician who'll man the camera and printer, props (like feathers, mustaches, etc.)and photo booth setup. You can rent the photo booth for 5-6 hours.

In the bridal show I attended, I received a flyer of a photo/video company which offers a photo booth for only P9,000 for 3 hours of unlimited picture taking and printing.

I'm tempted to rent a photo booth and let the guests take the pictures as their wedding souvenirs. But, companies which rent photo booths are in Metro Manila. So, we have to pay an additional out-of-town charge for the photo booth since we'll get married in the province. Booo-hoo!

Since photo booths are a trend in weddings, I saw instructions on how to DIY your own photo booth! I saw directions from evite:

If we do push through with the photo booth, we'll have to really consider to DIY our photo booth. I think it's fun and more personal that way.
